Where are main trade routes for your vessels ?
Generally, BWMS performance can vary depending on water salinity, turbidity and temperature. ECS has been proven to produce a costant performance efficiency regardless of water turbidity and temperature through a long period of actual tests including shipboard testing in the Qingdao coast area with high turbidity. It is recommended that Exchange + Treatment method should be done in the freshwater areas below 1psu since ECS is operable down to 1psu.
Which BWMS technologies do you prefer ?
ECS employs a full flow direct electrolysis technology among several BWMS technologies available in the industry. ECS has an advantage over competitors in terms of disinfection efficacy since Techcross developed its own electrodes with higher performance efficiency and reduced power consumption. Another advantage of ECS is a longer life cycle with low maintenance cost unlike competitors requiring frequent replacements.
What is the capacity of ballast pump ?
Models of BWMS is decided by capacity of ballast pumps on your vessel. ECS models range from ECS150B to ECS1000B and each model can be combined to meet higher capacity of ballast pumps. Techcross with highest sales records in the industry has various installation references from small ships to VLCC.
Does your vessel has an enough space for BWMS retrofit ?
ECS consists of modular units with a small footprint, making it possible to install ECS even in the limited space available in the existing ships.
What is the capacity of generator in your vessel ?
Required power consumption of BWMS can be an important factor for existing vessels with a limited capacity of generator. ECS consumes 3.4kW to treat 100m3/h of ballast water during ballasting operation in the normal seawater. ECS with low power consumption does not require replacement or additional increase in load of the existing generator.
Is your BWMS type-approved
by each government and
classification society ?
Basically, it is of importance that BWMS should meet requirements and standards of IMO including each government and classification society.

ECS with the world's first basic approval from IMO obtained approvals from Korean, Japanese and Cyprus governments as well as classification societies such as DNV&GL, ABS, BV, RS, RINA, LR as of April 2016. It is expected that ECS will get approval from CCS soon.
What is the current status of the USCG Type Approval Testing ?
The U.S.Coast Guard final rule requires vessels discharging ballast water in the United States to treat that ballast water with U.S. type approved ballast water treatment technology. As of March 2016, no BWMS makers have obtained the USCG Type Approvals. Techcross is one of the 44 BWMS makers with AMS (Alternate Management System) which the USCG allows IMO type approved system to be used to meet the U.S.requirements for up to five years from the vessel's compliance date.

When it comes to the USCG Type Approval, Techcross already applied for the USCG Type Approval testings at KR as a top priority in 2015. As of March 2016, enviromental tests for ECS are being conducted and land-based tests for ECS-HYCHLOR which is one of the new developments as a part of Korean Government Project are also being carried out smoothly. Both ECS and ECS-HYCHLOR are expected to get the USCG Type Approvals in the first half of 2017.

Techcross provides its customers with continuous care services even after BWMS installation. Techcross has established a strong foothold for after sales services in each continent of the world so that they can provide our customers with better services and is also expanding a close partnership with a well-known repair shipyards for BWMS retrofit in the near future.

Furthermore, Techcross solely focused on BWMS business completed the world's biggest BWMS factory with an annual production capacity of over 1,000 sets in October, 2015 in order to prepare for a big demand after the imminent IMO BWM Convention ratification.
